Basically ardour is a classical recording studio, not so much a tool for composition methods frequently used in electronic music.

Ardour is half decent, but the problem isn't ardour itself.
Linux is a poor platform for pro audio no matter how many different realtime kernels you try to cram into your distro or how much you wrestle with jack.
