Water Utilities is replacing water meters throughout the City of Amarillo to upgrade to digitalmeters. The newmeters will operate with the best technology currently available to provide more water use data to the city and its residents.

· Residents will soon to be able to better monitor water use with the City of Amarillo’sdigital water meter project.

· Phase II of the COA Water Meter Upgrade starts this month in water districts in north and south Amarillo. The city is upgrading water meters with digital water meters. Digital water meters will greatly improve and enhance customer service for the more than 70,000 water customers in Amarillo.

· The Texas Water Development board granted the city $25 million to work on replacing all the manual meters with digital ones. Today, nearly 70% of the meters in the city have been moved to digital, but there's still a way to go.

· City officials say about 22 percent of the system has been replaced, and they’re on track to be complete next year. The meters will provide the highest level of accuracy for water conservation and customer service. Customers will have access to additional water use data as the project progresses.
