2025 LakeShastaWaterLevel: Where Things Stand. As of May 2025, ShastaLake is approximately 87% full, placing it in a strong position going into the summer season. The waterlevel currently sits around 1,052 feet above sea level, compared to a full pool of 1,067 feet.
Why is LakeShasta green? On LakeShasta, a toxic algal bloom caused the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board to issue a warning against using the Pit River arm of thelake for recreationalactivities. Algae blooms can range from pea green to green with bluish hues.
