The Health & HumanServicesDepartment is the designated public Community Action Agency for Winnebago and Boone Counties. Community Action Agencies exist to break the cycle of generational poverty and to mitigate the immediate effects of poverty on individuals, families and neighborhoods.
· DHS Family Community Resource Center - Winnebago County, Rockford, IL provides a SNAP food assistanceoffice for the needy.
The Division of Family & Community Services (FCS) provides Family Community Resource Centers as "one-stop" centers for cash & medical assistance, food stamps, and job services.
Each agency delivers locally-designed programs and services based on the needs of its community. If a particular service is not directly provided by your local Community Action Agency, you will be referred to one of our partner entities for further assistance.
· You are automatically qualified for LIHEAP assistance if you participate in the SNAP food stamps program, TANF Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or the SSI program through Social Security.
