That’s why more schools are adoptingALICE Training, a proactive, options-based strategy built to improve real outcomes.
Many individuals who learn ALICE through their school or organization go on to use the strategies to save their life in a different environment entirely. As new studies explore the topic and more evidence comes to light, ALICE lessons will continue to evolve, reflecting the current best practices.
Traditional Lockdown The current responses to an armed intruder in the building is called a “lockdown.” Teachers will lock the door and escort any students they see in the hallway into their class. They will shut and lock the door, and move students out of sight to remain silent.
What is ALiCE? ALiCE is an options-based response which can increase survivability when faced with an active intruder situation. The program relies on the premise of providing information, authorizing decision making and participating in proactive training.

In ALICE Training, the “Lockdown” strategy involves securing a physical space during an emergency situation. This can involve locking doors, barricading entry points, and staying away from windows. An “EnhancedLockdown” may be implemented when more stringent security measures are required.
