Why Monitoring The Cdcr Visiting Status Is Essential For Families Navigating Recent State Prison Regulations

Follow these easy steps to plan your next visit at one of our CDCR institutions. CDCR recognizes visiting is an important way to maintain family and community ties. At the same time, our first priority is the health and safety of those who live in and work in our facilities.

· California stateprison visitation is governed by standardized CDCRregulations, with 30+ institutions offering contact and non-contact visits, and select locations offering overnight familyvisiting units.

· But even though visitation is a lifeline for incarcerated people and can be a critical factor for rehabilitation, families often face barriers when visiting loved ones in prison.

Familyvisits are extended overnight visits, provided for eligible incarcerated persons and their immediate family members as defined in Section 3000, commensurate with institution security, space availability, and pursuant to these regulations.

· Please review the VisitingRules (Proper attire, Allowable Items, etc.) prior to your appointment. Face Masks are optional for all persons within the secured perimeter. Please be advised that all visitors are not allowed onto institution grounds until 30 minutes prior to their respective visit.

Wardens and healthcare CEOs at each institution will determine the visitingstatus for each facility within the institution, based on the number of active cases, the time in between active and resolved cases, and other factors based on health and safety.
